DENTAL PREVENTION

Numerous scientific studies prove: Regular professional tooth cleaning prevents the risk of strokes, heart attacks and miscarriages. Prophylaxis is indispensable for people with chronic pre-existing conditions, such as diabetes or rheumatism, as it protects the immune system. For competitive athletes, dental services increases vitality and well-being. This makes it clear how important clean teeth and healthy gums are.

Healthy teeth

Healthy teeth into old age no longer have to be a wish. Our aim is to support you in maintaining and restoring optimal oral health through individual preventive measures.

But not only adults should have their teeth continuously cleaned by a trained dental hygienist. If you have your child professionally cleaned your teeth right from the start, you will significantly reduce the risk of tooth decay.

Scheduling your prophylaxis is important

Depending on the individual situation, we determine a time interval after which we meet again for professional tooth cleaning and control. This interval can be between three and six months.

To ensure long-term success, we recommend that you participate in our recall program. We remind you of the necessary examination and professional tooth cleaning at regular intervals, individually tailored to your oral health.

Perio-Prevention-Center

In a PerioPrevention® Center (PPC), the focus is on tooth preservation and your health. As a certified PerioPrevention® Center (PPC), we are one of only around a hundred competence centers throughout Europe that attach particular importance to the early detection of hidden oral inflammatory processes that are ultimately responsible for bone decay in the mouth.

With the help of molecular biological diagnostic technology, we are able to detect collagen degradation processes in the oral cavity at a very early stage in just a few minutes and then take appropriate measures to optimally protect your health.

Periodontitis, also known as periodontal disease, is one of the most widespread diseases, because even at a late stage it is almost unnoticed and painless. For the first time, molecular dentistry allows us to look into the future. We are able to determine at a very early stage, i.e. when the disease is not yet visible, whether there will be bone loss in the oral cavity if we do not intervene. So in these cases there is a hidden inflammation that needs to be treated.

Since periodontitis can also cause peri-implantitis (inflammation of the tissue around an implant), which usually means a loss of the implant, we can also provide prophylactic support here.

The molecular biological and cellular processes that cause periodontitis are very complex. This makes it all the more relevant that perio-prevention can clearly, simply and reliably determine whether a hidden inflammation is present.

During the examination, the chemical composition of the saliva is measured. We check whether the collagen-degrading enzyme aMMP-8 is present. Within a few minutes, a laboratory device can be used to analyze whether periodontal or peri-implant tissue degradation has already begun – even if this is not yet visually evident.

Many scientific studies prove that periodontal diseases are still widespread worldwide, despite the declining development of caries. However, where there used to be toothlessness, periodontal diseases are now manifesting themselves. With our work, we want to make an important contribution in reducing this phenomena and help our patients to enjoy their healthy teeth for the rest of their lives.

Lifelong oral health with healthy you own teeth does not have to remain a dream with the right prevention.

There is a direct connection between general and periodontal diseases. For this reason we work in this area interdisciplinary with physicians of other disciplines. Bleeding gums can cause the spread of periodontal bacteria into the bloodstream and trigger diabetes, rheumatism, osteoporosis as well as cardiovascular diseases and chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract. Periodontal diseases are also particularly relevant for people with hip and knee prostheses. If periodontitis is contained or even prevented, the risk of various diseases decreases accordingly.
And even for competitive athletes, a healthy mouth situation can increase vitality and well-being by relieving the immune system.
Many women today have problems getting pregnant. This can be due to various causes, but in most cases the connection with a chronic gum disease is not taken into account. However, numerous studies have proven the significant effects that periodontal diseases have on female and male fertility. We now know that periodontitis, like obesity, has a direct influence on the duration of pregnancy. Thus an undiscovered periodontitis can be a reason for an unfulfilled desire to have children.

Periodontitis also increases the risk of premature birth or the birth of underweight newborns almost eightfold. For comparison: alcohol consumption increases the risk only threefold.
